NOMINATIONS:
Members of HJAM, their horses and ponies, are automatically nominated for any and all divisions upon receipt of membership dues. Riders must be members in order to receive points in equitation divisions. The owner(s) of any horse or pony must be a member in order for the horse or pony to receive points in any Hunter or Jumper division. Point accumulated before dues are paid do NOT count. Points must be accumulated at HJAM approved horse shows. The point contact person is Bobbi Hires at (419) 344-2074. Please call her with questions about the point system.

POINT SYSTEM:
Hunter Divisions
- (USA Equestrian Article 918)
In the Hunter division, points are calculated according to the increment syatem. In "C" and "B" rated sections, points are determined by the number of horses shown in the section. In "A" rated sections, points are determined by both the rating of the competition (based on scheduling restrictions of Hunter, Article 2446 - USA Equestrian Rule Book) as well as the number of horses shown.

Division champions will be awarded 2.0 times the total 1st place point value of the first class in that section. Division reserve Champions will be awarded 1.2 times the total 1st place value of the first class in that section.

Classics:  Bonus points awarded to twelfth place. The following classics do not count:
North American League (NAL)
Marshall & Sterling
State Line
Ariat

Adult Amateur Hunter riders please refer to Zone 5 rules.

Equitation Divisions
The increment system will be used to calculate Equitation Points. The equitation division will receive the same rating as the hunter rating of that show.

The following classes will count for the overall equitation championship:  Open age group points and the HJAM Open Junior Medal.

Limit Equitation Rules
Limit Equitation On The Flat - Riders become ineligible when they win 6 blue ribbons in any equitation on the flat OR over fences OR combination of classes at any USA Equestrian Local or Regular member shows.

Limit Equitation Over Fences - Riders become ineligible when they win 6 blue ribbons in equitation over fences at any USA Equestrian Local or Regular member shows.

Ribbons won in classes with less that 8 entries do not affect a riders status. (Article 2201.5.3)

If a rider becomes ineligible for either limit equitation on the flat or over fences, that rider must notify the points chairperson, Bobbi Hires, in writing, that they are no longer eligible for the limit equitation on the flat or over fences. Their "open age group" points are then applied to the limit championship standing for the rest of the year, in addition to counting in their age group equitation standings.

Jumper Divisions - (USA Equestrian Article 920)

Children's/Adult Jumper
In the Children's and Adult Jumper Divisions, points are based on the number of exhibitors in the class. There are no points given for the Division Championships. Points for classes will be based on the number of exhibitors in the class. The following classes do not count:
Marshall & Sterling
North American League (NAL)
